About Us
Dragonfly Oil & Gas Partners, LLC was formed in June 2025 with equity commitments from funds managed by Pearl Energy Investments and co-founded by Steven Mickey, John Fechtel, and David DaGian. Dragonfly is an upstream oil and natural gas exploration and production company focused on creating operated oil inventory in the Permian, MidCon, and South Texas. We are actively evaluating acquisition and development prospects with the aim of generating attractive risk-adjusted returns through a variety of approaches that include optimizing producing assets and both development and delineation drilling.

Steven Mickey
Co-CEO
Steven Mickey is the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Dragonfly Oil and Gas Partners, LLC. Prior to Dragonfly, Steven was the President and Co-Founder of AVAD Energy Partners II, a portfolio company of Pearl and NGP focused on PDP acquire and exploit opportunities. Prior to AVAD, Steven led the acquisition and business development efforts for Venado Oil & Gas, a portfolio company of KKR focused on consolidation of the Eagle Ford. Steven has prior experience working in private equity with Denham Capital and investment banking with Goldman Sachs. Steven holds a B.S. in Finance with a minor in Spanish from Trinity University in San Antonio.
John Fechtel
Co-CEO
John Fechtel is the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Dragonfly Oil and Gas Partners, LLC. Prior to Dragonfly, John was the Reservoir Manager for Permian Resources and Colgate Energy and was instrumental in the rapid successful growth of the company through onboarding and integration of multiple assets, optimization of development planning, and the design and implementation of internal data systems. Prior to Permian Resources, John held roles of increasing responsibility at Pioneer Natural Resources with a focus on basin-wide studies, asset development, and field operations. John holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Carolina Honors College.
David DaGian
SVP of Geosciences
David DaGian is the Co-Founder and Senior Vice President of Geosciences of Dragonfly Oil and Gas Partners, LLC. David brings over 15 years of experience across a wide range of exploration and development projects focused in the Permian, MidCon, and Gulf Coast. Prior to Dragonfly, David served as the Geoscience Manager for BTA Oil Producers and has held roles of increasing responsibility at Permian Resources, Colgate Energy, Prime Rock Resources, Concho Resources, and Jones Energy. David holds a B.S. in Geology from the Jackson School of Geosciences at The University of Texas at Austin.
